Park School uses the Orton-Gillingham Approach, which is a direct, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing and spelling. Students will work in small groups with highly-skilled specialists certified, trained, and experienced in the Orton-Gillingham Approach. We offer a vibrant and challenging academic program through diagnostic and prescriptive learning experiences.

Careful consideration, thought, and academic data is put into class placement and student grouping, including age, grade level, processing speed, experience, personality, and individual need. O-G groups are flexible, allowing for placement based on the individual needs of each student.

Approximately 7:1 with pull out approximately 4:1. Larger classes are taught by a lead teacher and an academic support teacher or co-taught.

Admissions

We are unable to determine exactly how many spaces will be available per grade until we know how many of our current students will be re-enrolling. The number of spaces and number of classes per grade vary from year to year, and we make every attempt to accommodate demand.

You can check the status of your application by logging into your FACTS account. This is the account you set up when you did your application. Wait Pool: If your child meets our admission requirements but we do not have space in the grade, your child will be placed in a wait pool. The school will select applicants as space becomes available. Park School admits students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, and national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic programs or other school-administered or school-sanctioned programs or activities.

Park School’s 1st–8th grade program is only offered face-to-face. Park School does not offer virtual classes at this time. Please refer to the Program Offerings for program details.

Parents/Guardians will receive a summary letter providing feedback from the Admissions Director, including interpretation of test scores and recommendations for your child. There are generally three outcomes after a screening: If your child is found to be an appropriate candidate, he/she will be placed in our candidate pool. This means that your child will be considered for acceptance during the decision process.

It may be determined that your child is appropriate for dyslexia remediation, but does not need a full-time specialized setting at this time.

If it is determined that this is not the appropriate learning environment for your child, you will receive feedback and recommendations for other academic options.

If the Admissions Committee feels that Park School is not the appropriate setting for your child after reviewing your completed application, you will receive a letter from the Admissions Director indicating why that decision was made. You will also receive recommendations of other schools that might be a better fit for your child and his/her learning needs.
